The most used cloud and hosting providers
We track 41 cloud and hosting providers. The most used is Amazon Web Services, found at 143,231 companies as of October 2026, ahead of Google Cloud (73,956) and WP Engine (47,331).
Hosting is the layer everything else sits on. The big three public clouds (AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure) carry most corporate infrastructure, while platforms like Vercel, Netlify, Render and Fly.io have taken a large share of marketing sites and newer products because they remove most of the server work.
A company rarely runs on just one provider. The marketing site may sit on a frontend platform, the product on a public cloud and the help center on a vendor's own hosting, so the ranking below counts every company where we can see a provider, not only its main one.

How to compare cloud and hosting providers
- Managed platform or raw cloud: platforms trade control for speed; the public clouds give you every building block and the bill that comes with it.
- Regions and data residency, if customers or regulators care where data lives.
- Pricing model: bandwidth and build minutes on platforms, compute and egress on clouds.
- What your team already knows. Migration cost usually outweighs list-price differences.
How we find cloud and hosting providers
We see hosting in DNS: A records that resolve into a provider's IP ranges, CNAMEs that point at a platform hostname (cname.vercel-dns.com, *.herokuapp.com), and the response headers a platform adds to every page.
Every company on a tool's page links to the record behind the match. DNS is rechecked weekly and websites monthly, so tools a company stops using drop off the list.
